Building Partnerships
Creating a culture which works toward the healing of divisions is more than just a great idea. It takes a lot of partners. One that we look forward to welcoming into our community soon is Rhonda Hill of RaceandFaith.Org.

When we opened up Sacred Waters early in 2025, I sent out an email to everyone on a list I had compiled for groups that focused on outdoor and retreat opportunities for people of color. It was truly a casting of seeds into the wind. I know that most people do not respond to "cold calls" from folks or programs they don't know; in all likelihood, most of my emails went to peoples' junk or spam folders.
But two of the recipients responded. One was Rhonda, who not only responded to my email, but was willing to have a lengthy and rich phone conversation with me about race, healing, faith and Sacred Waters.
Rhonda went a step further, taking the time and expense to travel out to Sacred Waters for our initial Open House last April. Again, I was blessed by her honesty and engagement over what this place could become.
And now, this month, a bold step further. Rhonda and her son Josiah are coming to volunteer and stay at The Cloister for a month, lending their hands and hearts to help build the community we are trying to create.
We are so grateful to Rhonda and her willingness to engage, partner and give of her time & energy to support our community. For each of you that have done the same, thank you. For those just getting to know us, I hope you will join in.
